YOU ARE VERY WELCOME!

Are you searching for meaning in life and want to know more about God and Christianity? The Catholic faith is a journey into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, and it is lived through prayer, worship and daily life. In the Church we receive God’s grace in the sacraments, listen to His word in Scripture and learn to love our neighbour in practical ways. At Our Lady and St Edmund church, we invite you to discover this faith with us and to find a home in our parish community.

INTERESTED IN FINDING OUT MORE?

We invite you to get in touch with us if you would like to talk with someone about faith or about becoming a Catholic. You can use the form on this page and we will get back in touch with you.

WHAT DO I DO?

Like many people, you probably have a lot of questions to ask. You may even feel that God is calling you to something new. That is a good starting point! Becoming a Catholic is a process whereby you will receive support to learn with others through a period of preparation, prayer and guidance. Our parish offers regular programmes that will introduce the essentials of the Christian and Catholic faith. You will be able to receive answers to your questions and support with helping you to determine your next step. So if you feel drawn to begin this journey, please do get in touch, and we will be delighted to help you.

HOW DO I BEGIN?

To begin with, you will meet one of our parish team, who will listen to you and help you to work out what is the best thing for you to do next. If and when you feel ready, you will be able to join one of our formation programmes, which offer teaching, discussion and prayer to prepare you for your journey of faith. There is never any pressure, and only if you feel you are ready to, you may choose to be received into the Catholic Church through the sacraments of initiation, which is a joyful occasion that marks the beginning of your new life in faith.
