You can make your donation for our Lenten projects using the link above until the 18th April.

The purpose of this donation facility is to enable any sum received to be used for and by our parish for its upkeep and benefit of parishioners. This will enable those who normally use the weekly gift aid white envelope system or loose plate donations to continue to support the Parish. The facility will enable one off or continual donations (with or without gift aid) to be made securely to our parish bank account. Your continued support for the Parish is greatly appreciated.

Please do not use the 'Donate' button for clergy stipends (Mass intentions, weddings, Baptisms). These can be put in an envelope marked FAO the parish priest and indicating what the offering is for and who is giving it. The envelope can be left at the parish office or in the donations basket in the Church.

A very warm welcome to the website of the Catholic Church of Our Lady and St Edmund in Abingdon.

The Parish of Our Lady and St Edmund of Abingdon is a dynamic Roman Catholic community situated in the northern part of the Diocese of Portsmouth. Together with other four parishes, it belongs to the English Martyrs, Vale of White Horse Pastoral Area. It is also a member of “The Church in Abingdon”, an organisation which includes 14 different Christian congregations in Abingdon, and we greatly value our work together.

Pastoral care, short faith development courses, social activities and church groups are at the heart of Our Lady and St Edmund’s vibrant Church community. Whether you are new to the Parish or an existing Church member, please explore our website to find out more about how you can join in our faith celebration and get the most out of the Church community.

Our Church is dedicated to St Edmund, a native of Abingdon, whose feast day is celebrated on November 16th. We have close links with our Catholic schools in Abingdon - Our Lady’s Junior and Senior Schools and St Edmund Primary School.

OUR VISION
BRINGING PEOPLE CLOSER TO JESUS CHRIST THROUGH HIS CHURCH

To go out on mission to everyone.

"Go, make disciples of all nations. " (Matthew 28:19)

That we enable many more to hear the Gospel and to come to know, serve and love Jesus Christ in the saving communion of His Catholic Church, so that, persevering in faith, hope and charity, they may one day reach the happiness of Heaven.

To convert Catholics.

"He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood, lives in me, and I live in him." (John 6:55-56)

That we assist all Catholics, especially those who are not yet practising, to reach a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist, to be more intentional disciples and, discerning their charisms, to become more actively engaged in the Church's mission.

To be totally dependent on the Holy Spirit.

"You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you." (Acts 1:8)

That shifting from maintenance to mission, we trust more completely in God through prayer, imploring the Holy Spirit to inspire our clergy and our laity with constant joy and creativity to develop and realise new, innovative ministries and ways of Christian living.

To become outward-looking servants.

"In so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to me." (Matthew 25:40)

That all our parish and our school communities become ever more outward-facing service-centres, brighter beacons of mission, dialogue and service to everyone around, especially to the poor, the homeless, those in need.
